Tips To Stay Cool
This has been one hot summer, am I right? I hear from many clients all over the continental USA as well as my clients traveling to other countries, that it is just HOT. This lead me to think maybe a few tips for how to stay cool while traveling the remainder of this summer might be useful. So, here are tips to stay cool while traveling for the rest of the summer.
Drink More Water
We all know that we should drink more water, but when it is very hot, drinking more water can help us to not become dehydrated, especially if you are sweating a lot. My first great tip would be for getting your hydration up would be a collapsible water bottle. I got one of these standing in line at a shoe store and took it on my list trip to Virtuoso Travel Week. It was a godsend to have while talking in meetings all day. When you are done, you can squish it back down and attach to your bag or backpack. Another great tip for hydration would be Liquid IV packets. These are great for replenishing your electrolytes. (By the way, I get nothing for recommending these products).
Wear Lightweight Flowy Clothing (if possible)
A great way to beat the heat is to try to wear light weight, loose, flowy clothing. Less constriction and contact will help the air to circulate and keep you cooler. This will also help with packing. Versatile clothing options that can be worn to the beach and add a scarf and wear it for dinner. This will alleviate overpacking as well (and maybe you could even take a carryon bag) which might reduce the chance of the airlines losing your bags.
While I would love to offer up air conditioning in the hotels as well, this is very hit and miss in Europe. Even when the hotels do have air conditioning, it isn’t always what we “get” in the US. So we have to set our expectations on what that might look like. Typically Europe was not as hot as it is currently with global warming and they didn’t really need AC.
