Chat AI Agent
Chat GPT or Chat AI is everywhere these days. I will admit that I use it too when trying to think of a new blog post to publish or ideas. Recently I read an article relating to using Chat GPT as a travel advisor and I thought, this is a great blog post this week. Here is a link to the article that I read as well, but I will summarize below as well the Chat AI Agent.
Can You Book My Flights?
Chat AI was able to pull up an itinerary for the search based in the article, and then the inquirer asked Chat GPT to book their flights for them. Of course, the response was … I am a language model, I cannot book flights for you. To further investigate the AI’s abilities, the next question was, can you recommend an airline and/or flights for me? Of course, it was able to show the nonstop flights available between the cities, but couldn’t recommend anything in regards to the best airline, pricing, availability or otherwise.
What Hotel Should I Book?
Of course, the same problem was encountered with the hotels. It was able to recommend a couple of hotels in the vicinity, but nothing about the recommendations or first hand knowledge of these hotels.
And this is where the beauty of using a travel advisor starts to become clear. Google has a lot of information all the time and there are many booking sites to book them if you wish to. But there is no connection with the online booking engine. There is no first hand knowledge of the properties or the general managers at the properties.
Why Use A Travel Advisor?
So should you use Chat GTP or an AI program for your travels? Well, the answer is that it depends. Do you want to know the best flights, airlines and hotels? Do you want the experience of the best restaurant around the corner for a sandwich or to have a special dinner with reservations? Would you enjoy the perks and amenities of the connections between the advisor and the hotel suppliers or tour operators? If the answer is that you would like those benefits, you should probably think about hiring an experienced travel advisor. Having one, they can provide you with that special access and connection. Using a full service travel advisor will also provide peace of mind. Whereas, Chat GPT can only give you information that anyone can put on the internet which might be true or not. Not to mention that the travel advisor (AKA me 😉) can also BOOK your travel for you.
