TRAVEL LOVER GIFT GIVING

If you are like me, this is a tough subject! My passion is traveling and here it is Christmas time. Everyone wants ideas for gifts, and of course, I don’t really need anything. I crave experiences, new culinary delights, spending time in another country. Those do not really make great Christmas gifts. So… this edition… Travel lover gift gifting. (The super short version as I don’t have that many ideas).

ACTIVE ITALY TRIPS

This week I am at a virtual trade conference for Italy.  What does this mean?  It means that I meet with suppliers from Italy online on Zoom.  I learn about new properties, new suppliers, new destination management companies, and more.  Today, I had the pleasant experience of meeting with Dolomite Mountains.  This is a destination management company, and they work with travel advisors (like me) to curate amazing experiences in their “country”. I cannot wait to share some of these amazing ideas for active travelers or skiers!

SECRET BOLOGNA EXPERIENCE

Richard and I were traveling through Bologna and I found the most special farmhouse/cooking class in the countryside of Bologna. The owners were lovely, engaging and we were in awe of the whole experience. A husband-and-wife team running a farm, restaurant, cooking school, and a B&B as well. This secret Bologna experience has stayed on top of our minds every time we think of Italy.

MY LAST TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

As I prepare to embark on my next vacation, I thought I would share my last travel experience with you, which was Turks & Caicos in July of 2021. I was on a familiarization trip, meaning I was exploring properties and learning the destination so I could speak to it with my clients. Turks & Caicos has some of the most beautiful waters. Those pictures of the blues and the greens are just stunning.

FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN BOLOGNA

Richard and I stayed at the Savoia Hotel Regency in Bologna in 2017.  It’s a beautiful hotel that feels very fancy but has great prices.  Our favorite restaurant in Bologna was Garganelli restaurant in the hotel.  This restaurant is all about a refined and elegant environment. The space is modern and classic at the same time.

FIVE MISTAKES TO AVOID WITH CRUISING

So what does that mean?  As of today, September 3rd, 2021, nothing!  None of the countries have rolled back their policy to not allow Americans into their countries. Each individual country gets to decide for themselves if they will allow us in or not. It also means they choose if they wish to add any new rules to their entry process.

EU VACCINATION ANNOUNCEMENTS

So what is new on the EU Vaccination Announcements? On Monday, August 30, 2021, the EU announced that they “might” recommend the US to be removed from the safe countries to accept into their countries. Of course, this was another “oh no” moment for me, a travel advisor who focuses on this region. The next day, they recommended that the US not travel to the EU except for nonessential travel. The reason for this was the rising number of cases of covid-19 again among the unvaccinated people in the USA.

I LOVE TRAVEL

This week’s blog is about why I love to travel. I grew up without much money. Travel to me meant being in a car for many hours, bored and squished with my siblings. As a teenager, my goal in life was to travel. I didn’t want to have kids. I just wanted to see as many places as I could. Of course, that wasn’t how my life went. I had kids (which I am extremely thankful for) and I didn’t travel a lot until much later. I feel like I am still making up for lost time now as an empty nester. I love to travel and I cannot get enough new experiences!
