THANKSGIVING POST

Happy Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving was yesterday (2022) I thought this week’s blog would be short and sweet and just a heartfelt thanks to all of my clients for being so wonderful and trusting Amore Travel Designs to help design/execute their vacations. Thank you also for all the wonderful referrals you have sent to us as well. So this Thanksgiving post is to you. Cheers to a wonderful holiday season and a bright 2023.

FEBRUARY GETAWAYS

As my recent blogs and newsletters have been about festive travel and such, I thought, where to next when we are past the festive season. Of course, this will depend on whether you want a warm destination or one geared towards snowy activities. However, where would people want to go in February for example, when they are past family visiting, holiday meals and just need some R&R. Well, let’s see if we can dive into some possibilities for February Getaways.

FESTIVE TRAVEL

I have been commenting on my weekly newsletter about festive travel. So I thought now might be a good time to post a blog about it as well. So what is festive travel? Festive travel is traveling during the holidsays, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. I am going to try to highlight a few “favorites” for festive travel in this blog post.

BAHA MAR

Baha Mar Bahamas

I had the pleasure of visiting Baha Mar in Nassau, Bahamas this past week. I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, but there are several properties connected all together. There is the Rosewood Baha Mar and SLS (which are both Virtuoso properties). During the covid period, they also spent over 200 million building a very large water park.

SECURITY LINES

Long security lines

I just returned from Italy on Sunday, and walking through our airport in Denver, I was flabbergasted by the long security lines. They were wrapping all the way around the baggage claim areas. There were so many stressed travelers standing in these lines, that I thought this might be a moment for another blog post about the security lines at the airports.

TUSCANY WINE ESTATE

Wine Making Torre A Cona

Richard and I decided to get out of Florence for a day to visit a picturesque wine estate in Tuscany. The property was called Torre A Cona. It was built in 1066 originally as a castle, and later changed to a country estate . There are many buildings on the property now, to include an Enoteca, a large cellar and wine making buildings, as well as a hotel and some private villas/apartments. Torre A Cona has a large swimming (with a second on the horizon) as well a restaurant and bar area. This Tuscany wine estate is a great way to see the iconic Tuscan countryside.

TUSCANY ITALY

Tuscany

Richard and I are off to Italy next week and we are so ready to go (well, except I haven’t started packing at all yet). But we cannot wait to be back in our favorite country together this time. While thinking about my blog for this week, I thought it should be about Italy in some fashion. I am actually returning to Italy in November too for a wine/luxury hotel conference, and we are staying in Barga, which is an area of Tuscany Italy I haven’t been to before.

ETIAS VISA WAIVER

Visa Waiver

Travel has come back with a bang! Since the pandemic hit, I think we all forgot about the visa that was to be implemented in 2022 for Americans to visit Europe. So I thought this week’s blog would be on this topic. ETIAS visa waiver stands for European Travel Information and Authorization System.

LONDON HIGHLIGHTS

I thought this week might be a good time for a blog on London Highlights with the Queen’s passing recently. From a travel perspective it was either a great time – or – based on your opinion, a bad time to be in London. The crowds were massive with 5 mile long queues to visit the queen in state. British Airways reported that 15% of all flights were for the funeral. May she rest in peace after such an amazingly long and respected reign.

ROAD TRIP TIPS

So how do you survive a road trip with your family while not going crazy? This is a very good question, and not an easy thing to do by the way. Long road trips are wonderful for creating new memories with your family, but they can test your patience to be sure. I am going to outline a few road trip tips to make your next car ride more enjoyable and memorable.
