OH MY LISBOA

Oh My Lisboa

Oh my Lisboa! Portugal is everything I dreamed of and so much more! The food, the friendly people, and all the fantastic experiences—it’s just incredible. If you haven’t had the chance to visit yet, now is the perfect time to go! We spent an amazing week exploring, and I can’t recommend coming to this beautiful place enough!

The Food

Let’s talk about the food in Lisbon (or Portugal).  Of course, their highlights are the seafood.  They are known for the salted cod as well as the sardines and the pasteis de nata.  The originals are known as the pasteis de Belem.  We tried several types of the pastries, and our favorite was in the Mouraria area. Don’t miss the bifana pork sandwiches.  They were amazing as well. So many great things to discover about the food here!

Tram It Up

Like San Francisco in the United States, Lisbon is a city famed for its historic, rattling tram lines. None are more iconic than Tram 28 which has been working its way up the steep, cobbled roads and into the old Alfama district for decades.

The journey starts below the palm-spotted hills of Graça, and weaves toward the hair-pin alleys of Escolas Gerais, before pulling up to a halt beneath the gorgeous domes of the Estrela Basilica.

The people-watching opportunities from the windows are second-to-none, and you’re bound to discover decades of history as you pass the various majestic palaces and castles along the route.

Castles and More!

St George’s Castle is unquestionably the most visible landmark of Lisbon’s historic center. Standing tall and firm above the streets of the old Alfama District, the great citadel was first built more than 2,000 years ago by the Romans.

Since then, it has been developed by subsequent rulers of the city, from the Berbers to the Reconquista knights. Today it has mighty palisades and crenulated towers to admire, along with an encircling dry moat and other anti-siege features.

As you wander through the sun-dappled streets of Lisbon, with its rich tapestry of history, culture, and stunning vistas, you’ll find yourself falling under the spell of this enchanting city. Whether it’s the charm of the Alfama’s narrow lanes, the grandeur of the Jerónimos Monastery, or the vibrant energy of the Bairro Alto, Lisbon invites you to explore, discover, and immerse yourself in its timeless allure. Reach out and let me assist with your amazing Portugal adventure and let’s talk about Lisboa together!
