Top 5 Travel Tips
One of the most common questions we are asked relates to packing, what to pack and how much, particularly as airlines start to squeeze us as they increasingly charge for baggage. With space at a premium one category especially we receive a lot of questions for is ‘what are your top 5 travel items?’ We’re happy to give you our list but would love to hear yours as well since these can be very personal and divisive.
Portable Charger
Keeping devices charged is crucial for entertainment, communication, and navigation. A portable charger ensures you’re never without power, especially handy during layovers or delays. If you are using your mobile device to navigate new areas with GPS this can quickly drain the battery and so a power pack is an essential addition to prevent you being stranded.
Travel Documents and Wallet
Essential documents such as passport, ID, boarding pass, and itinerary should be kept in a secure, easily accessible place. A travel wallet or organizer can help keep everything organized and safe. There’s no worse feeling that getting to an immigration checkpoint and having to fumble around for your documents.
A Travel Steamer
One thing we noticed during our recent trip to Italy is that less and less hotels are offering irons and ironing boards in rooms. While you can take advantage of hotel laundry services, these can be expensive and take overnight in some instances. If you need a quick de wrinkle before heading out for the night then a travel sized steamer can be a life saver.
Travel Converter
Depending on your destination, a travel adapter may be necessary to charge your devices. A compact power strip can also be handy if you have multiple devices to charge and limited power outlets. If you intend to travel with a hair curler or straightener (or a travel steamer) then a converter is necessary. I’ve lost count of how many circuits I’ve blown and straighteners I’ve broken trying to use them without a converter. Alternately, a tip if you travel frequently, I have started purchasing these items at the destination so I now have a straightener for Europe, the UK, and US type power requirements, and only need to pack one and now worry about a converter.
Entertainment
Bring along a good book, e-reader, or tablet loaded with movies, TV shows, or games to keep yourself entertained during the flight or downtime at your destination. Don’t forget headphones or earbuds for private listening. Wireless headphones are an increasingly good idea since many new airplane entertainment options allow you to pair your own headphones via bluetooth with the built in seatback displays.
Getting yourself all set and organized before your trip can really enhance your overall experience. Don’t forget to pack essentials like travel pillows, chargers, and headphones to keep yourself comfy and connected. It’s also helpful to keep your documents and snacks handy for seamless transitions and staying fueled. Keep entertained with some fun options and maybe even jot down some memories in a journal. And of course, make sure to pack some comfy clothes and toiletries for a smooth arrival. Travel smart, have a stress-free journey, and make some unforgettable memories along the way! ✈️🌍🧳
